Welcome Baby Brother

My baby brother, Christopher “Jackson” Karges, was born on May 23 at 7:28 a.m. He was 7 pounds .09 ounces and 18.5 inches long. Although Dad likes to call him Chris, Mom and I call him Jackson.

Jackson

Mom thought she was going into labor the night before and decided to take one preggo picture so that one day, Jackson would know what she looked like right before he was born.

Preggo Mom

Grandma and Grandpa watched me for most of the week while Mom and Jackson were in the hospital. The doctor’s were a little concerned about some noises Jackson was making while he was sleeping that first day, so they took him to the special care unit in the hospital. They ran a bunch of tests and everything came back negative – but he got some great care while he was there! This was my second meeting with Jackson and it was taken while he was still in the room with Mom and Dad.

Meeting Jackson

Mom was allowed to go home yesterday, but Jackson had to stay until today. Around noon, we all went to the hospital to take him home!

Going Home

We’re all doing good now that we are home!

And you probably guessed it already, but I’m going to be retiring my blog and passing the torch over to my baby brother. It’s been a great ride the last three years. I may put a post here every now and then, but for the most part, you can learn about my adventures through the eyes of Jackson at: babybrotherjackson.wordpress.com. I know, he should have had his own babyjackson blog name, but that was already taken!

Until we meet again – thanks for reading over the years!

Better Late Than Never!

Remember a few weeks ago, on my birthday actually, that I said I took a photo with the Easter Bunny? Well, they finally emailed Mom the photo!

Don’t we look cute? Next year, we’ll have at least one more person in the photo – Baby Brother!

Lights, Camera, Action!

As most of you may or may not know, Dad has been filming (directing, producing, etc. etc. and so on) his first feature film this past week. Although Mom and I tried to stay out of his hair and camped out at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, I did have a couple of visits on set.

This particular picture was taken by the great Nick Abadilla! (You may recall, he took our Christmas photos in California last year also.) Dad flew him in for the day for a behind the scenes documentary of the filming process. I may be biased, but this was by far the best photo he took!

Visitors from Tennessee!

Last week, Grandpa’s sister, Mimi, and her husband Joel, came all the way from Tennessee to visit me. OK, so they really came to visit Grandpa and Grandpa – I was just the icing on the cake! (Great Aunt Mimi has been a frequent visitor and commenter on this blog for the past three years and I was thrilled to finallly meet her in person.)

Mimi and Joel

Of course, Mom never had a good camera with her, so we’ll have to settle with some iPhone pictures. We got to eat well and went out to La Posta and De La Vegas! Yum, yum, yum! The black catfish was my favorite to watch.

Finally, Grandma got in on the action…

Thanks for coming to visit Mimi & Joel. I hope you didn’t catch my cold!

Easter Fun

I really hope my birthday and Easter do not fall on the same weekend again – it was more excitement than I could handle (and Mom too)! This year, we decided to attend the Easter church service at Grandma and Grandpa’s church. (Both Brady and I were looking quite adorable, if I do say so myself!)

After the service, we headed to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for a day full of fun! First I noticed that the Easter Bunny came to visit them and left me a present. (No, not that type of present…)

Truck

We also exchanged cards.

Easter Card

Uncle Josh gave me the best one – it played music!

We also thought we’d try to take a nice family photo. You know, if I wasn’t so good looking, Brady might have looked at the camera instead of me!

He’s almost smiling here!

Mom helped me write my name, but I picked the color!

After a very delicious meal, it was time to do a little egg hunting in the backyard.

I think Shadow wanted to eat the candy the Brady found! (Or maybe she just thought it was a great opportunity to give him a big smooch?)

After a little break, it was time to fly the kites. I got a new kite for my birthday, but we got it tangled up before it caught any air – so we reverted back to the one we got last year.

I was getting pretty good at flying the kite.

And even helped it lift off after a crash!

My 3rd Birthday

Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday dear Logie, happy birthday to me!

Yesterday, I turned the big t-h-r-e-e. I’m a big boy now! Let’s just say, being three has been very busy so far. I had a huge day yesterday and another big one on Easter. (I’m not sure if I’ll get the Easter blog updated today, so check back later this week.)

Dad is getting ready to film his movie and had his first read-through with the actors yesterday, so Mom and I had to make ourselves scarce. Lucky for us, Grandpa had a great idea about going to Springfest at Young Park. You know what, they expected over 10,000 people and I bet they all showed up! There was a huge Easter egg hunt, but since the line was so long, we opted to explore the park and see what else was happening. There were a few carnival rides and I chose to ride on the carousel.

Riding the rooster

Want to see how fast we were going? (The video takes a little bit to load…)

After riding the rooster with Grandpa we went on one more ride and then explored the park. They had a very cool musical pots and pans area set up that I got to bang on.

Pans

And here is the video clip!

There was a small petting zoo set up with a pony, goats and bunnies. There was also a donkey that I got to pet!

Petting Zoo

On our way out, I got to sit in a firetruck again! This time, I was in there all by myself. Afterwards, Grandpa and I posed for a photo.

After Springfest, it was time to go over to Gym Magic for a make-up swim lesson. Lucky for me, I was the only one there so I got a private lesson!

Swimming

After swim, it was back to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for nap time. While I was sleeping, they got the house ready for my party!

This photo was taken before the party started, but it’s one of the best of the three of us.

Grandpa and the boys

Soon, it was ready for the festivities to begin! Since I love trains, Mom decided that we would have a train theme party. Even though I’m not a huge fan yet, the only train theme we could find was Thomas the Train.

Train cake

Jumping on the trampoline was the first order of business. Don’t worry, we had a lot of adults around – that is the only reason there was more than one of us up there at a time!

Kids on trampoline

After jumping we ate a delicious meal that was catered by Dickie’s BBQ. After dinner it was time for cake! Even though I only had 3 candles, I had a lot of help blowing them out!

Blowing out candles

After eating cake and ice cream it was time to open presents. Let me tell you, that was some adventure! Eight kids wanting to help open my presents equals a lot of cheering! Brady got me the best present – a monster truck!

But I also really loved gettingĀ  Bambi, although you can’t tell by my face.

Yes Everybody, I’m a Boy!

This morning, Grandpa took me to get a “real” haircut. I was a bit nervous, but I think it turned out great. Not as short as Uncle Mikey would have liked, but short enough for me!

Another fun birthday party

This weekend, I was invited to Lilah’s first birthday party. For those of you who do not know Lilah, she’s Mia’s little sister – also known as my honorary little sister! Her parent’s sure do know now to throw a party – I wonder how they are going to top it for number two?

First of all, there was a mechanical bull. Yes – you read that right…a mechanical bull!

Mechanical Bull

Here’s the first of a couple of video clips I’m going to share…it’s a little harder to ride onto a bucking bull than it is a big pony!

We had a huge water gun fight!

I’m going to get you…

Not only did I get to ride a mechanical bull for the first time, I also got to hit a pinata! Here I am waiting patiently in line…

And here’s the video clip…

I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year!

Happy 1st Birthday Brady!

Last weekend, my cousin Brady had his first birthday party. Uncle Josh and Aunt Emily put on a great party…with a monkey theme!

Balloons

Don’t they look great in their matching hats?

The cupcakes were delicious. Brady only had one…I think I had five. Mom lost count, I kept sneaking them!

Cup cake

We got to play bubbles in the backyard.

Bubbles

I went shirtless for most of the party – I guess that’s the price you pay when you play in the kiddie pool!

More bubbles

Mom sat on the couch with Grandma and Grandpa while I took care of the presents.

Mom, Grandma and Grandpa

Since Brady isn’t an expert at opening presents yet…I got to help Emily with the hard work – and then showed Brady what was inside each one!

Opening presents

Dad even put together this great slide show with all of the photos. Check it out here: http://animoto.com/play/G5yOE3XVgfoLvTuQkvaBLw. (It may take awhile to load – be patient…it’s worth the wait!)

Random photos

I know. I know. It’s been way too long since my last blog update. I’ve even got a “blog stocker” who emailed Mom about getting my act together soon…thanks Brooke!

Anyhow, I’m getting ready for my big retirement. I’ve decided to pass the torch to my baby brother after I turn 3 next month. Of course, I’ll post the new URL once it is set up, but Mom’s friends convinced her it was the fair thing to do. I’m lobbying for “LogansLittleBro” as the name, but I don’t think that will fly. We’ll just have to see if he can post as good as I have over the last couple of years!

Now for the photos. These were taken with Mom’s new iPhone over the last couple of weeks. Enjoy…

I am a giggle monster!

Giggle Monster

This was my first day in my new swim class – Froggies. I had a bit of trouble sitting on the step, so a few times I was put in the penalty box where I had to sit on the edge of the pool to wait my turn.

I went bowling again with Mia, but this time, I enjoyed eating nachos the best!
